ATP Tour Finals
Overview
The ATP World Tour Finals are the season-ending tournament of the ATP World Tour. It is a round robin tournament between the top eight players and top eight doubles teams of the ATP Rankings and is played on indoor hard courts. The matches will be played on indoor hard courts.
Format
Singles matches are the best of three tie-break sets. Doubles matches are the best of three tie-break sets, with no ad scoring and the deciding set being a supertiebreak.
The format is a two-group round robin tournament. The players will be seeded 1-8 depending on the above criteria, with seeds 1 and 2 being separated from each other in each group. Seeds 3-8 are randomly added to each group by a coin toss.
Standings within the group are determined by:
1) Number of wins 2) Number of matches played 3) In two player ties, their head-to-head record 4) In three players tie, % of sets won, then % of games won, then head-to-head record 5) ATP Rankings
The first placed player in each group will play the second placed player in the other group in the semi-finals. The final will include the winner of the two semi finals.
Qualification
Players/Doubles Teams receive places in the following order of precedence:
1) The top 7 players in the ATP rankings on the Monday after the final tournament of the ATP World Tour 2) Up to two Grand Slam winners, ranked 8th-20th 3) The eighth player in the ATP rankings
Points are accrued across 18 tournaments and must include the 4 Grand Slams, 8 Masters 1000 tournaments and their best results from any 6 other tournaments.
