Next Generation ATP Finals
Overview
Starting in 2017, there will be a season-ending event for the best singles players on the ATP tour who are 21 or under. The ATP will be using the event to trial innovative new rule changes. The matches will be played on indoor hard courts.
Match Format
All matches will have the following rules:
Each set is the first to four games (Tie break at 3-3).
Best of five sets.
No-Ad Scoring (servers choice)*
No lets, serve is either valid or a fault even if it hits the net.
*No-Ad scoring - when the score is at deuce, whoever wins the next point wins the game. The server chooses which side to serve from.
The additional rules will differ from regular ATP tournaments:
Shorter warm up - matches will begin precisely 5 mins from the second player walking onto the court
Shot clock - A shot clock will be used between points to actively monitor the 25-second rule.
Only 1 medical timeout per player will be allowed
THESE RULES WILL BE PART OF A NEW SCORING TYPE THAT IS RETURNED WITHIN THE LIVE DATA - THIS SCORING TYPE IS ATPShortSetNoAdv

Tournament Format
The format is a round robin tournament. The players will be seeded 1-8 depending on the above criteria, with seeds 1,3,5,7 making up one group and seeds 2,4,6,8 making up the other.
Standings within the group are determined by:
1) Number of wins 2) Number of matches played 3) In two player ties, their head-to-head record 4) In three player ties, % of sets won, then % of games won, then head-to-head record 5) ATP Rankings
The first placed player in each group will play the second placed player in the other group in the semi-finals. The final will include the winner of the two semi finals.
There will also be a 3rd/4th place Final for this tournament. This will be added to the Draw with the Event ID MS000.
